Mil Estrellas is situated in El Castillo not far from the small village of Las Tricias, a very quiet rural area in the North Western corner of La Palma. The area is popular with nature lovers and walkers who want to get away from it all and live in the countryside and away from the tourist areas. This area is handy for visiting the Roque de los Muchachos (highest point), the small, almost deserted, villages in the north and the caves and hyrogliths of the original inhabitants. There are many walking routes which criss-cross the area. Mil Estrellas is about 1.45 hours drive from the airport. A sandy beach and fishing harbour are in Tazacorte, about 45 min. drive. There are some small isolated and picturesque rocky beaches below El Castillo where you can swim in the summer.
From Mil Estrellas it is about 15 minutes drive to Puntagorda with restaurants and typical local bars, supermarkets and some shops, a chemist, post office, banks, a butcher and a public swimming pool. | |

| The weather in the North West of La Palma is generally very sunny and very pleasant. The summers are warm but seldom hot. The evenings can become cooler at this altitude. Between May and October rainfall is rare, but thanks to the humidity the nature remains beautifully green. There can be short periods of cloud and rain between November and March which is of course why this area is greener than The Valley. In the spring (mid-January to March) the tens of thousands of almond trees flower, followed by the codesa(a type of gorse), the sweet smelling broom and the orange trees. | |
